2015 Summer Cocktails

Pineapple Tequila Cooler

All you need is coconut water, agave, fresh pineapple juice, and tequila. To start, freeze the coconut water in ice cube trays. Mix 1/3 part tequila to 2/3 pineapple juice and shake in some coconut ice cubes. If using fresh pineapple juice opposed to canned, use some agave as sweetener. Tropical sunrise in a glass!

The Juliette

A fantastic drink created by the people over at Chez Moi, the Juliette is a refreshing bourbon and tea cocktail. Brew 1 oz. of black unsweetened tea and chill. Shake 1 oz. of tea with 1.5 oz. of Bourbon, ¾ oz. of lemon juice, and ¼ oz. of simple syrup. Slap some mint and add it to your drink. Simple as that.

Strawberry-Basil Bourbon Lemonade

Add a pound of strawberries and ¼ cup of water to a food processor or blender and pulse until pureed. Add the puree and 1 ¾ cups of water to a saucepan and place over medium high heat until the mixture begins to boil. Add 2 cups of sugar and stir until dissolved.   Remove from heat, strain liquid through a mesh, and refrigerate for at least a half hour.   In a pitcher combine syrup mixture with 1 cup of Bourbon, 1 cup of ice cold water, ½ cup of lemon juice, and 1 oz. of bitters: stir until completely mixed. Garnish glasses with basil sprigs, pour, and enjoy!

Orange-Ginger Margarita

In a blender mix a can of frozen orange juice concentrate (leaving 1 tablespoon of concentrate to the side), 10 oz. of tequila, 6 oz. of ginger liqueur, 1 tsp. ginger, and 4 c. of Ice. Blend until ice is crushed. Use the reserved tablespoon of orange concentrate to dip the rims of the glasses in, and coat rims in kosher or margarita salt. Fill glasses, add crystalized ginger as garnish (if desired) and serve!

Key Lime Mojito

Combine 2 ½ cups of light rum, ¾ cups of fresh lime juice, ¾ cups of fresh key lime juice, and ¾ cups of confectioners’ sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved and add 3 ¾ cups of club soda. Divide mixture into glasses, add crushed ice, crushed mint leaves, and garnish with lime wedges.
