Wine With Your Grilled Cheese? But, Of Course!

Did you know that April is National Grilled Cheese Month?!?! Grilled cheese sandwiches are the best comfort food and enjoyed by all ages. When does a warm, crispy, melty grilled cheese sandwich NOT sound good? Never! And the list of ingredients is endless; you can choose from so many different breads and cheeses, throw on some bacon or tomatoes, even spice it up with some jalapeños……plain and simple, a grilled cheese sammich hits the spot every single time. And since cheese and wine go hand in hand…..we thought it would be cool (and tasty) to pair up some different types of wine to go with different types of grilled cheese sandwiches. Here are a couple options:

One might think a classic GC only pairs well with a cold soda pop or frosty beer…..but a nice glass of slightly chilled Pinot Noir or Rose’ fit right in. And go big with your cheese choices….think outside the “American cheese single slices” box…..layer on some Havarti, sharp cheddar, and Gouda…..go bold and add some Pepper Jack for that extra zing!

For a more gourmet grilled cheese, think sourdough bread with Gruyere and mozzarella with thinly sliced fresh pear or apples …..you can add some smoked turkey or chicken….ooooohhh and some Arugla to really fancy it up…..this would make a lovely ladies’ lunch choice for a shower or get together with friends…..pair it with a crisp cold Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, or Pinot Grigio…..and you have yourself a meal fit for a queen!
