Weekend Happenings

Congratulations, you survived another week and it’s time to start the weekend! As you know, there are tons of activities going around New York City, so we made it easy for you and highlighted what we are looking forward to most. They range from kicking off St. Patrick’s Day with parades to film festivals (I’m most excited for the St. Patrick’s celebrations).  We hope this helps as you start planning your weekend:

Hoboken St Patty’s Day Parade: This parade always happens the first Saturday of March, it isn’t as crazy as past years since they cracked down on drinking. However, if you make it across the Hudson, you won’t be disappointed. Everywhere you look you’ll see people in green and shamrock-ed out. I would suggest having cash on you, most bars will have a cover (buzz kill, I know). If you are lucky enough, you will have friends (or friends of friends) that live there and will be able to enjoy the day at a house party (to save some money), before heading to the bars.

Queens’ St. Patrick’s Parade: Another parade celebrating the Irish starts at 1 PM tomorrow in Queens. I have never been to this Parade before but it seems to be a perfect event for family and friends to celebrate their heritage. It begins at Rockaway Beach on Beach 129th and Newport Ave.

Whiskey Walk: This event is for those who want to stay in Manhattan and enjoy premium Whiskey! You’ll be able to taste 8 of Ireland’s finest whiskeys as well as small food tastes at 8 downtown bars, starting at noon and goes till 10 PM. Get your tickets here. Also you will be walking/drinking/eating for a cause, because a portion of the proceeds will go to local non-profit and charitable organizations.

French film festival: This runs starting tomorrow March 6 through the 16th at different locations throughout NYC. You’ll be able to see the best contemporary French films and premieres.Click here for more screening information. After the shows use our App to help find the perfect spot for dinner and drinks!

Big Apple Con: This year marks the 20th anniversary of NYC’s longest-running comic-book, science-fiction and fantasy convention! It is hosted at Penn Plaza Pavilion tomorrow, March 7th, starting at 11:00AM, tickets will be available at the door. You’ll be able to go through comic-book selections, many will be dressed up as their favorite fictional character, and you can enjoy classes and workshops, and so much more!

Let us know what you did this weekend!

Cheers,

Meggie
