Pubs in the Ballard section of Seattle

Here is a helpful guide to ease your way around Ballard’s beloved pubs and taverns.  If a perfect pint is what you’re looking for you will find it here.  Pool or darts on your mind they have that too.

Barking Dog Alehouse – The Barking Dog combines classic Belgian and Micro Beers with a great neighborhood atmosphere. The “Dog” is committed to delicious fare with personal, neighborly service. They rotate a variety of local and specialty brews and bring to you a delicious American Bar & Grill menu with creative weekend Specials.   They have a daily Happy Hour from 3-6 $3.75 20 oz beers, $3.75 wine and well drinks, appetizers from $3-$5 and serve brunch on weekends from 11-2.

Conor Byrne Pub – Conor Byrne is a cozy little pub that has been nestled in the heart of Ballard Avenue for 108 years. The pub is known for it’s live music, but it is well known that Conors is easily one of the most comfortable bars in town. There’s something about the brick walls and the century old backbar that holds you like a warm hug. To go along with it, and might make the hug a little warmer, is the 57 whiskey selection, 22 beer selection and one of the best pints of Guinness in town.  They offer a daily Happy Hour from 4-7 $2.50 micros, $1 off all other beers and drinks (including top shelf), 1/2 off sandwiches.

King’s Hardware – Pub, Restaurant and Hardware store all in one.  Come in for a pint and a burger and a hammer and nails.  One stop shopping at its finest.  They offer $1 off burgers daily from 4-7.  The menu consists of the usual pub grub but their “after school special” of a bacon burger with peanut butter caught our attention.

Lock & Keel – Ballard Avenue’s most regular of watering holes. Catch the game, meet friends old and new, or relax quietly in the corner. You choose. That’s what a neighborhood bar is for, right?  This spot has been serving those needs for Ballard’s locals for over a hundred years.  They have a daily Happy Hour from 4-7 $2.50 PBRs, $3.50 Micros, well drinks, and wine, $5 snack menu and the same Happy Hour Sunday-Thursday from 11-2am.

The Market Arms – Welcome to Ballard’s British Pub, offering you a fine selection of ales, wines and liquor and not to mention great pub food. Featuring Shuffleboard, darts, pool, outdoor seating front and back and football – both American and British. They offer a great Happy Hour Monday-Thursday from 3-6 and 10-12 $4 Appetizers, $3 select Bottled Beers, $4.75 20oz Pints, $3.75 16oz Pints, and $4.50 Well Drinks!  The same Happy Hour is offered friday from 3-6 and Sunday from 10-12.  Free pool all day Monday and trivia every Thursday at 7:30 round out this fantastic spot.

The Old Pequliar – The bartenders are friendly and always quick to get your drink at this locals joint.  This is a great place to go to avoid the crowds on Ballard Ave.  They offer standard pub fare so come in for a causal drink and shoot some pool or darts.

The People’s Pub – The People’s Pub is a German themed establishment with food to match.  It is a great place to relax and have a pint.  They are not a sports bar but will put a game on if it’s not too busy.  If your a VT Hokies fan this is the place for you.  The People’s Pub also has a daily Happy Hour from 3-7.

Sloop Tavern – Sloop is a family owned and operated neighborhood tavern and galley serving West Ballard for over 50 years. One of only a few true taverns left in the city, steeped in sailing tradition. Their walls are adorned with photos of the Sloop Tavern Yacht Club and their trophies. They are known for huge beers, quality pub grub at great prices. Head there to watch the big game on their many flat screen tv’s or play a game of pool with friends.
