Neighborhood Bars in Mcalester-Groveland-Highland in St Paul, MN
Every neighborhood has their “locals”. We wanted to share ours with you. Pub grub, trivia, pool, good conversation and sports help bring people together.
Blue Door Pub – Blue Door Pub has now opened a location across the river but we still call this place home. Their “Jiffy” Burger is a must have, the crunchy peanut butter and bacon on top perfectly balance the pepper jack cheese and jalapeños in the middle of the burger. Don’t forget about their Happy Hour because they have 2 daily from 2-5 $2 Pints, $5 Wines by the Glass / $2 Basket of Fries and Tots and 10-1am $2 Pints, $5 Wines by the Glass / $2 Basket of Fries and Tots, $3.50 Deep Fried Green Beans or Pickles, and $5.50 order of Wings!
Chatterbox Pub – Chatterbox Pub is a great place to take a load off. Whether you want to watch the game, grab a bite or both. If you and your friends want to remember your yesteryear just pull out one of their board games Yahtzee, Connect 4, and Apples to Apples to name a few. The folks at Chatterbox make you feel like you haven’t left your living room. If your looking for a place to belt out some tunes Chatterbox has Karaoke every Wednesday and if you can borrow your grandparents Bingo marker they offer that on Thursdays.
Goby’s Grille and Pub – Goby’s is certainly a local spot but don’t be afraid to step inside if you’re from out of town. In true Mid West fashion they welcome all with open arms. Stop in for a game of pool and we suggest you try their waffle fries. Their week day Happy Hour runs from 4-6 $2 Tap Beers and $2 Rail Drinks. Goby’s has a different late night happy Hour each night typically starting at 8.
Green Mill Brewing Company – Green Mill has 27 locations throughout the Midwest. This location makes everyone feel at home. They have so many Happy Hours every day of the week there is too much to list, but to give you an idea every day from 3-6 and 9-12 they have $1 OFF ANY Beer or House Wine, $2.50 PBR Tallboy. Green Mill has all day specials each day as well. If your looking for something fun Green Mill has trivia nights Monday and Tuesday and if your in the mood for bingo they have that on Wednesdays.
O’Gara Bar and Grill – O’Gara’s is the oldest family owned operation of its kind in Saint Paul still at the original location. The mural of leprechaun cobblers on the south wall of the main dining area was done from creation by founder, Jim O’Gara. The shillelagh over the adjoining all-wood bar is also the real item, coming from the County Sligo, home of the first O’Gara clan. Stop in for a proper pint and fish and chips and you may never want to leave. Drink specials offered daily so there is always a reason to pop in.
