The Grey Goose Honey Deuce
For those of you who don’t have plans this Labor Day Weekend, consider purchasing tickets to the US Open! Enjoy watching the top tennis players in the world, while drinking your way through the tournament. The Heineken beer lounge is one of my favorite stops! Don’t forget to check it out.
One drink you need to try if you have not indulged already is the USA Open official cocktail, The Honey Deuce. In 2007, Grey Goose mixologist, Nick Mautone created this delicious cocktail to quench the thirst of spectators on hot summer days. He combined vodka, lemonade, and raspberry liquor to make this signature drink. The best part is the frozen honeydew melon balls on top that resemble tennis balls. How adorable!
Over 250,000 melon balls will be used this year to make the Honey Deuce and over a million Honey Deuces have been served since Mautone’s creation. Sounds like I will be trying one of these delicious cocktails this weekend. When in Rome!
If you don’t think you’ll be able to make it out to Flushing Meadows, here’s the recipe for your at-home endeavors:
- 25 oz. Grey Goose Vodka
- 3 oz. fresh squeezed lemonade
- .5 oz. Chambord or other raspberry liqueur
- Crushed ice
- Frozen honeydew melon balls for garnish
Fill a Collins glass with crushed ice and add the Grey Goose vodka. Top with lemonade and then the Chambord. Skewer a few honeydew melon balls and top the glass with garnish. Enjoy!
For those of you that are going to the Open, see you there!
