Now Trending: Watermelon Cocktails

If you are on Social Media, you must be seeing watermelon cocktails everywhere! This is one trend I am fully on board with; the drinks are refreshing on hot summer days (like this heat wave that is happening), watermelon is low cal, has many health benefits, and not to mention very delicious.  I have a few favorite and easy recipes to share you to help survive the heat wave and also celebrate the 4th with.

Soaked Tequila Watermelon:

This one isn’t a cocktail, but it is hands down my favorite party treat. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:
1 inch-thick watermelon wedges
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec
2 limes, halved or cut into wedges
sea salt

Directions:

Arrange watermelon wedges in a single layer in 2 (9×13-inch) baking dishes. Then prepare the simple syrup: bring sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan. Cook, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in tequila and Triple Sec. Set aside to cool. Pour cooled syrup over watermelon and refrigerate for at least 45 minutes (longer if you wish). Remove watermelon from syrup, and arrange on a platter. Squeeze limes over the watermelon and sprinkle with sea salt.
