The Aviary: From the Windy City to New York City

On October 4th, the Alinea Group debuted their much anticipated cocktail bar named, The Aviary, located in Columbus Circle, New York City. The Aviary is a highly experimental cocktail bar hailing from Chicago run by three-Michelin-starred duo, Chef Grant Achatz and partner Nick Kokonas. Lucky for us east-coasters, the immediate success of this bar lead Chef Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas to open one here in the Big Apple!

On top of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, The Aviary pleases its guests with panoramic views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The aesthetic of The Aviary is also presented to you in the form of unique cocktails placed before your eyes. Their menu is fascinating and whimsical, and their cocktails are seemingly magical. Smoking cocktails, unusual plating, mysterious names, and beautiful vessels are what to be expected at this unique restaurant. One cocktail in particular, the ‘Wake and Bake,’ is an OJ and coffee cocktail, served in a plastic bag, with the aroma of everything bagel pumped into it! Yum.

Japanese inspired small plates fill the tables at The Aviary. Dishes such as Black Truffle Explosion, Tempura Hawaiian Shrimp, and Octopus Croquettes are favorited. There are options for a five-course tasting menu of cocktails and canapés for $135 per person and a three-course cocktail tasting for $90 per person.  I’m in!

Reservations are taken a week or more in advance, so call ahead of time and get a seat at this decadent new cocktail bar in NYC!

Cheers,

Danyelle
